One thing you probably never noticed about me – because I am good at hiding it on pictures – is that I wear glasses. Without them I could not cope my everyday life.
I remember getting them when I was around the age of eleven or twelve and I hated them from day one. So it was only logical that I switched to wearing contact lenses when I became a teenager. And that worked really well for five, maybe six years, but eventually my lenses got more and more uncomfortable to wear until I could not wear them any longer.
That’s when I went back to wearing my glasses again. Although I got some compliments from my friends and family, telling me that they looked totally fine on me, I felt the same discomfort I was feeling as a child.
Almost ten years went by until I recently went to an optician to give it another try. He encouraged me by saying that over time contact lenses got way better and could not be compared to the ones from a decade ago.
He prepared a pair of test lenses which I have been trying out for the last couple of weeks. At first they worked quite well for me but after about 2 weeks I was facing the same problems again. So now I am waiting for my optician to get back to me on what to do next. I am hoping that maybe I just have to try different kind of lenses… 🙁
(This is one of the very few pictures that shows me wearing my glasses. Normally I always take them off before getting a picture taken).
